MCCG240 - Evaluation and Management ServicesSemester Credit Hour(s) 3 This course involves the study of the evaluation and management services (E/M) clinical classification system for physician/patient encounters. The use and maintenance of electronic applications and work processes supporting classification and coding are discussed. Topics include the assignment of E/M codes based on physician and outpatient encounters, the interpretation of relevant regulations and coding guidelines, and the validation of coding accuracy by comparison with the health record. A working knowledge of E/M coding will be obtained to ensure optimal compliance with current rules and regulations.
Prerequisite(s): MCCG136 (MCCG137 for students enrolling May 2021 or after) and MCCG145 (MCCG146 for students enrolling May 2021 or after).
