The Electronic Technology program is designed for students who want a concentrated electronics education with a manufacturing focus. Analog and digital electronics and microprocessor systems are studied in theory and practice in this program along with applications of electromechanical devices and systems. In addition, communication and interpersonal skills are emphasized to prepare students for a successful career. Students reinforce their knowledge through hands-on laboratory applications using equipment compatible with industry standards. Graduates of the Electronic Technology program are prepared for work as entry level technicians in such areas as manufacturing, installation, operation, service, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Graduates of this degree plan will achieve the following program and institutional outcomes:
- Apply the basic principles of analog and digital electronics to analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic equipment using standard established practices, procedures, and tools common to the industry.
- Utilize the ability to interpret technical documentation and make recommendations/decisions about the utilization and purchase of electronic equipment and material.
- Apply their existing knowledge base to improve the effectiveness of systems operation.
- Utilize current technology and resources to identify a research need, locate and evaluate necessary and available information, and then use it appropriately to communicate findings in visual, written, or oral formats.
- Integrate new and prior knowledge, skills, and behaviors acquired through learning to engage in career, life, and academic pursuits.
- Examine individual thinking strategies through reflection, analysis, and evaluation to adjust learning processes focused on continual improvement.
- Follow established methods of scientific inquiry and quantitative reasoning to form conclusions and make decisions.
- Assess academic, life, and career situations that promote cultural sensitivity, global and economic awareness, and a sense of belonging.
